Kajabi Free Trial: What to Actually Do in 14 Days

Kajabi's standard free trial runs 14 days. No extensions are available directly through Kajabi, and if you entered a card at signup, it gets charged on day 15 unless you cancel. Two weeks sounds adequate, but most people spend the first few days clicking around and the last few days unsure whether what they built actually reflects how the platform would work for their business.

This guide is for coaches, consultants and course creators who want to use those 14 days to get a genuine answer — not just a feel for the interface.

What the trial actually includes

Kajabi opens nearly all of its features during the trial. You can build a website, create products (courses, coaching programmes, memberships, podcasts), set up landing pages, write email broadcasts and sequences, and connect a payment processor so you can actually sell.

A few things stay locked until you activate a paid plan:

  • Editing site-wide email templates

  • Specific automation actions: sending an email via automation, sending a certificate, granting an offer, sending a single-use coupon, and registering a contact to an event

  • Bulk contact imports (you can still add contacts one at a time and collect them through forms)

None of those restrictions should stop you from testing whether Kajabi fits your business. They matter post-purchase, not during evaluation.

One thing that catches people off guard: when you enter a card at signup, Kajabi places a temporary authorisation hold on it to confirm the card works. It isn't a charge, and it drops off automatically. If no card was required when you signed up, there's no hold at all.

Which plan to trial

The features you get access to during the trial depend on which plan you select at signup — not a universal set of everything Kajabi offers. This matters more than most sign-up pages make clear.

Kajabi currently has four plans: Kickstarter, Basic, Growth and Pro. The trial mirrors the plan you choose. If you trial Kickstarter and later pay for Growth, you'll find features you never saw during your evaluation.

A practical approach: identify the two or three features that would make or break Kajabi for your business, check which plan includes them, and trial that plan. If you're not sure which plan that is, the Kajabi pricing breakdown on this site covers what each plan includes and who each one is realistically for.

Days 1–3: Build something real

Set up one actual product — not a placeholder, a real one you plan to sell. If you're a coach, build a coaching programme or a short course. If you create memberships, build the membership structure. The goal in these first days isn't to finish a polished product; it's to find out where the platform resists what you're trying to do.

Connect your custom domain if you have one (not available on Kickstarter), choose a website theme, and build at least one landing page. These tasks reveal the actual editing experience — something screenshots and demo videos never honestly convey.

Also set up the checkout for that product with your payment processor. Kajabi processes payments through Stripe and PayPal. If you run into problems here, it's better to know on day two than day thirteen.

Days 4–7: Test what matters to your business model

Once something is built, shift attention to the workflows you'd rely on week to week.

Email. Write a broadcast email and send it to yourself. Set up at least a two-step email sequence. Check whether the editor does what you need, whether you can segment your list the way your business requires, and whether the deliverability settings (custom sending domain) are available on your chosen plan.

Automations. Build one automation that triggers on a purchase or a form submission. Kajabi's automation builder works on visual rules — when X happens, do Y. Test a basic sequence that you'd actually use, such as enrolling a buyer in a course and tagging them in your contact list.

Student or member experience. Log into your course or membership as a student. Kajabi has its own student portal, and your clients will live in there. Notice how easy it is to find content, how the mobile experience looks, and whether the navigation matches how you've structured your material.

Community. If you plan to run a community alongside your courses or coaching, test the community feature on your plan. Not all plans include it, and the depth of functionality varies.

Days 8–14: Stress-test, price-check, decide

By day eight, you should have a product, a landing page, a checkout, some email sequences, and a basic automation in place. The remaining days are for answering the harder questions.

Does the reporting tell you what you need to know? Kajabi shows sales data, email open and click rates, and course progress. Check whether the analytics available on your plan give you enough to run your business, or whether you'd need to pull data somewhere else.

How is the support? Test Kajabi's live chat support with a real question. Response time and the quality of the answer matter more than the number of support articles listed on a features page.

What would you need to migrate? If you're moving from another platform, map out what migration actually involves: contacts, course content, existing subscribers, payment histories. This is often the least examined part of a trial and the most painful surprise after signing up.

Run the real cost numbers. The plan price is only part of the cost. Factor in the annual versus monthly difference, any transaction fees (Kajabi takes none, but your payment processor does), and what tools you could remove from your current stack. Our Kajabi pricing guide breaks down what each plan costs and what you actually get for it.

Extended Kajabi 30-day trial option

We can offer you a 30-day free trial in place of the standard 14. These are genuine extended trials — the same platform, the same plan, just more time. They aren't available directly through Kajabi.com; you need to sign up through a partner link.

If you're on the fence about whether 14 days is enough, an extended trial is worth finding. Check the Funnel Tools software offers page to see what's currently available for Kajabi.

One thing to note: Kajabi confirmed that trial lengths are set at signup and cannot be extended after the fact. So if you want more time, find the extended offer before you create your account, not after.

What happens when the trial ends

If you entered a card at signup and don't cancel before the trial's end date, Kajabi charges it for your first subscription period and your paid plan begins. Your content — products, pages, contacts, settings — is all still there.

If you don't start a paid plan, Kajabi will prompt you to choose one before you can access your Dashboard again. Nothing gets deleted. Your build is saved and you can subscribe later to pick up exactly where you stopped.

Kajabi also offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans, which means if you activate and change your mind within the first 30 days of paying, you can request a refund.

To cancel a trial before the end date: go to Settings → Subscription & Billing. The exact end date is shown in a banner at the top of that page. Cancelling before the end date means no charge — the authorisation hold, if one was placed, does not convert to a payment.

Who should pay after the trial — and who probably shouldn't

Kajabi earns its price for coaches and course creators who want one system covering their website, email marketing, course hosting, checkout and community, and who would otherwise pay for three or four separate tools. The consolidation argument is real if your current stack is fragmented.

It's harder to justify if you're only selling one low-priced product, just starting out and unsure whether the business will gain traction, or primarily need a community platform rather than a full course and marketing suite. In those cases, a lighter-weight option or a lower-priced plan may be the better starting point.

If the trial ends and you're still not sure, the 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans means you have another month to test under real operating conditions before the commitment becomes final.

If Black Friday is coming up

Kajabi typically runs its biggest discount of the year in November. If you're evaluating Kajabi now and the timing works, it may be worth starting a trial with the intention of converting during the sale rather than at the standard price. Our Kajabi Black Friday 2026 article covers what the deal includes and how to position yourself to get it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Kajabi require a credit card to start the free trial?

In most cases, yes. Kajabi may place a temporary authorisation hold on the card to verify it — this is not a charge and drops off automatically. Some sign-up paths don't require a card at all; if that's the case, there's no hold.

Can I get more than 14 days?

Not through Kajabi.com. Some Kajabi affiliate partners offer 30-day trials via dedicated links. These work normally — same features, longer window. Find one before you create your account; the length is set at signup and can't be changed after.

What happens to my content if I don't subscribe?

It's saved. Products, pages, contacts and settings remain in your account. You need an active paid plan to access your Dashboard and make your site visible to members, but nothing is deleted when the trial lapses.

Can I trial Kajabi more than once?

Kajabi ties the trial to the email address used at signup. A second trial on the same email address isn't available. Some people use a different email address for a second attempt, though this isn't a workaround Kajabi officially supports.

Is Kajabi's free trial genuinely free?

Yes — no charges during the 14 days. The card you enter is held for verification, not billed. The bill starts on day 15 if you haven't cancelled, so set a reminder a day or two before the trial ends.
